Ex-Yahoo prez leaving Vail board

BROOMFIELD —  Sue Decker, whose resume includes a stint as president at Yahoo Inc., is stepping down from her seat on Vail Resorts Inc.’s (NYSE: MTN) board of directors.

When Decker vacates her position later this year, the Broomfield-based ski area operator will temporarily shrink its board to nine members. 

“The Nominating & Governance Committee of the Board is currently conducting a search for an additional independent director with the assistance of a leading independent executive search firm,” Vail said in a recent news release. “The Board currently expects to complete that process and a corresponding increase in the size of the Board to ten members in early 2027.”

Decker, who helped found social media network Raftr, “joined the boards of Anderson Group Inc. and Nscale Ltd. within the last year, and made the decision to step down from the Vail Resorts Board in order to manage her total number of board commitments,” the release said. 

Vail’s board made headlines last month when its members — save one recent addition — were sued by company shareholder Gary Peterson, who alleged that Vail leaders violated securities laws and breached their fiduciary duty.

Peterson’s complaint, filed in U.S. District Court in Colorado, echoes price-fixing accusations leveled against Vail and several other outdoor industry organizations in a pair of previously filed lawsuits. 

In a late-August email to BizWest, a Vail spokesperson said, “We believe that the claims are without merit and will defend the Company and our Board of Directors vigorously.”
