Kremmling official named Loveland city clerk

LOVELAND — Ashley Macdonald, who most recently served as town manager and chief administrative officer for Kremmling in Grand County, has been named city clerk in Loveland.

According to a news release from the city, Macdonald was selected from two finalists following a national search and will begin her new role Dec. 30.

Macdonald will fill the position held since June by acting city clerk Angie Sprang, who took the office’s reins after Delynn Coldiron resigned in June to become city clerk in Fort Collins, a position she held for 31 years before taking the Loveland post in 2021.

“Ashley’s local government background and expertise will be a strong fit for this role,” Acting City Manager Rod Wensing said in a prepared statement. “I know our city will benefit from her commitment to authentic engagement, attentive listening, strong skills in information management and cultivating productive relationships.”

In her role in Loveland, Macdonald will oversee the five-person city clerk’s office, public elections, licensing and all official and public records, including the Municipal Code.

“The clerk acts as the guardian and steward of vital information, records and elections for the city. I am honored to have been chosen for this position and am eager to contribute to this outstanding team,” Macdonald said in a prepared statement. “Growing up in Loveland, I am thrilled to have the chance to serve the community that played a significant role in shaping my success today.”

Macdonald’s role in Kremmling included filling the town clerk and treasurer roles as needed. She also has served 10 years on Wellington’s Board of Trustees, three years as deputy district manager of the Wellington Fire Protection District, and two as senior real estate coordinator for the City of Fort Collins. For four years, Macdonald was a real estate broker and office manager for TC Group in Loveland.

She earned an associate’s degree in political science and government from Front Range Community College and a bachelor’s in public administration from the University of Colorado Denver.

“As we welcome Ashley, I want to extend my deep appreciation to the entire clerk’s office including our acting city clerk, Angie Sprang, for managing the important clerk duties for the past seven months, including the 2024 election cycle,” Wensing said. “Their success is a testament to the amazing team we have here at the City of Loveland.”
