Hospitality veteran Steiskal to manage Limelight Boulder

BOULDER – Limelight Hotels has named a new general manager for its upcoming Limelight Boulder hotel and conference center.

With 25 years of hospitality experience, Boulder resident Joseph Steiskal will lead the center and oversee the hotel’s opening and ongoing operations, according to a news release.

“Joe is an award-winning leader who has become a cornerstone of the Boulder hospitality scene, with a deep understanding of what makes this community so special,” Aspen Hospitality CEO Jeff Toscano said in the release. “We could not ask for a better steward to lead the team at Limelight Boulder as we prepare to open our doors.”

Steiskal most recently served as the area general manager for the Embassy Suites and Hilton Garden Inn in Boulder. He is the chairman of Visit Boulder, vice president of the Boulder Hotel and Motel Association and a member of the advisory board for the Boulder Economic Council.

Steiskal also has held leadership roles in Chicago, Cincinnati and Louisville with Marriott International, White Lodging Services, and Sage Hospitality, the release stated. The Renaissance Boulder Flatiron was awarded Marriott’s Hotel of the Year award in 2018 under Steiskal’s management. He also was named General Manager of the Year for Sage Hospitality in 2022.

“Since my arrival in Boulder, I have found it to be an extraordinary place that embodies a unique blend of natural beauty, innovation, and a vibrant community,” Steiskal said in the release. “What truly sets Boulder apart is its energy and spirit, driven in large part by the University of Colorado. I am honored to join this project, which as the largest meeting and events facility of its kind in the area, will continue to elevate Boulder to new heights.”

Steiskal is the latest executive from Boulder’s Embassy Suites and Hilton Garden Inn to join Limelight. Angela Blackstock, former director of sales and marketing at the Embassy Suites, joined Limelight in May as director of sales.

Limelight Boulder is accepting group bookings for October 2025 and beyond. The conference facilities offer a 15,000-square-foot ballroom, along with another 10,000 square feet of meeting space for up to 1,000 people. Once opened, the Limelight Boulder will have 250 rooms, a ground-floor restaurant and an outdoor plaza.
