Cheba Hut returning to Boulder in December
BOULDER — For the first time in five years, hungry Boulderites will be able to cure their munchies at Cheba Hut, which closed its cannabis-themed sandwich shop on University Hill in 2019.
“We are extremely excited to open up a new Cheba Hut in the great city of Boulder after being away for five years,” David Timmons, CEO of Cheba Hut franchise operator Elevated Inc., said in a prepared statement. “The people of Boulder have been asking for our return, and we are grateful to have the opportunity to do so. The town has been wonderful to work with, and we can’t wait to open up — we’re back.”
An Elevated representative told BizWest that the Boulder Cheba Hut at 1346 Pearl St. is expected to open Dec. 9.

Cheba Hut is taking over a portion of the former Lazy Dog Bar & Grill space. Lazy Dog Bar & Grill, a mainstay on Boulder’s Pearl Street Mall since 2004, closed in early October 2019, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cheba Hut has locations throughout the Front Range, including in Longmont, Johnstown, Greeley and Fort Collins.
Correction: This story has been updated to remove an incorrect reference to another restaurant concept occupying a portion of the ex-Lazy Dog space. BizWest regrets the error.
