Stealth semiconductor startup Rivos leases space in Fort Collins

FORT COLLINS — Rivos Inc., a Mountain View, California-based, stealth-mode semiconductor startup, has leased space at 2950 E. Harmony Road in Fort Collins.

It’s the same building that houses Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (Nasdaq: AMD). It sits across the street from Broadcom Inc.’s Fort Collins fab plant and kitty-corner from Intel Corp.’s Fort Collins Design Center.

Rivos officials could not be reached for comment during weekend hours.

Rivos is believed to have leased about 4,500 square feet. Its local hires include Carl Scafidi, who had worked for Intel for more than 26 years, according to his LinkedIn profile.

“This office represents one of many new locations as we continue to expand both domestically and internationally,” Scafidi said in a recent LinkedIn post. “Rivos has many exciting and challenging positions open across software, architecture, microarchitecture, logic, verification, and physical design.”

Puneet Kumar, Rivos’ founder and CEO, commented on the post, “I am very proud of the team we have assembled in Colorado. Excited for Colorado to join the Rivos expansion plan.”

Apple filed suit against Rivos in early May, accusing the startup and two former Apple employees of theft of trade secrets.

The case is Apple Inc v. Rivos Inc, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, Case No. 5:22-cv-02637.
