Catalyze acquires New York solar-energy firm

BOULDER — Commercial and industrial renewable-energy company Catalyze Holdings LLC has acquired New-York-based solar sales and development firm Sol Alliance, it announced Thursday in a news release.

The deal brings Catalyze a deal pipeline with more than 80 megawatts of projects in development along with a foothold in the New York and New Jersey markets.

“We’ve been successfully partnering with Sol Alliance for over a year on project development and acquisition and have experienced firsthand the team’s ability to deliver projects from conception to installation with speed and certainty, while maintaining the highest quality standards,” Catalyze CEO Steve Luker said in a prepared statement. “The Sol Alliance transaction builds on our previously announced plan to grow our national presence by acquiring leading regional distributed solar development firms that bring a wealth of in-depth knowledge of the local landscapes and introduce synergies to a highly fragmented industry.”

As part of the deal, Sol Alliance partners Stephen Owen and Jared Haines, as well as vice president of operations Matthew Effler, will join the Catalyze executive team.

Catalyze, which is backed by energy investors EnCap Investments LP, Yorktown Partners LLC and Mercuria Energy, has also acquired award-winning solar developer and installer PermaCity, and integrated battery storage provider Prisma Energy Solutions earlier this year.
