Fort Collins pickleball franchiser announces Thornton opening

A new indoor pickleball center franchised by Fort Collins-based Colorado Pickleball ADA LLC has opened in Thornton.

Owners and operators Amber and Brian Rieman of Brighton opened The Picklr Thornton on Sunday at 9923 Grant St. The center includes six championship courts, three standard courts, a pro shop and a dedicated corporate event and party space.

“Members will never need to worry about rain, wind, cold or heat,” Amber Rieman said in a news release. “In 2022, I was playing outdoor pickleball with multiple generations of my family and had an epiphany that launched Brian and me down the path to bringing pickleball to more families. As I was on the court, laughing with my family, I realized that no other activity could harness so much enjoyment and play equity for three generations at the same time.  My nearly 70-year-old dad was playing with his 9-year-old grandson and having real fun. It was beautiful.”

Brian Rieman suffered a massive stroke in January 2023. During the following months of therapy, the doctors encouraged him, as a rehab patient, to have a solid goal to work towards while he was relearning to talk and eat.  He decided early on that his goal would be to get back on the pickleball courts with his family.

“We had heard of The Picklr, and when they announced they were franchising, Brian and I knew it was our calling, and we jumped in – with everything we had – and have never looked back,” Amber Rieman said. The couple also purchased the rights for two additional franchise locations in the Broomfield and Westminster areas, which they plan to open over the next two years.

Colorado Pickleball ADA is owned and managed by Fort Collins residents Jim Lautzenheiser, Chad Preiss, Randy Halfpop and professional pickleball player Kyle Yates.
