“I am excited to have Alan Qualls join our team in Northern Colorado,” said Margo Karsten, Banner Health’s Western Region president. Karsten had been pulling double duty as both the Northern Colorado CEO and Western Region president.
“He brings the experience needed plus an understanding of the Colorado market to move us forward in the health care industry,” Karsten said.
Qualls will have overall responsibility for service, clinical outcomes and market share, as well as financial-integrity of operations at Banner’s three Northern Colorado hospitals — Banner North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Banner McKee Medical Center in Loveland and Banner Fort Collins Medical Center. He will be responsible for developing and fostering positive relationships with all staff members.
Qualls has 25 years of experience in adult and pediatric health care services. His experience includes leadership roles, most recently at Sky Ridge, a Level 2 trauma center and the largest orthopedic and spine hospital in Colorado. He also previously worked as senior vice president for business development at HCA Healthcare’s Continental Division and chief operating officer at two of HCA’s hospitals.
Qualls earned his bachelor’s degree in health care administration from Western Kentucky University and his MBA at Troy State University-Atlanta. He is nationally board certified in health care management by the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Qualls, an Eagle Scout, has served in a volunteer capacity with the Boy Scouts and is a certified high school mountain bike team coach, a Rotary Club member and a former board member for Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Casper [Wyoming] Area Economic Development Association.
“I am thrilled to join Banner Health and lead the expansion of services in the community,” Qualls said. “My family is also very excited to relocate to the Northern Colorado region.”
