Memorial Health System task force to finalize RFP Friday

COLORADO SPRINGS — Memorial Health System in Colorado Springs plans to finalize its request for proposal by Oct. 14 and send out the requests Oct. 17, according to Jan Martin, Colorado Springs council president pro tem.

Poudre Valley Health System and University of Colorado Hospital are both on the list of companies that will be receiving the RFP, Martin said.  According to media reports, UCH is planning a bid on the Colorado Springs-based health system.  Arizona-based Banner Health System, which operates McKee Medical Center in Loveland and North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, is also planning a bid.

Rulon Stacey, PVHS president, told the Northern Colorado Business Report last week that a bid on Memorial was “within the realm of possibility,” but was not something he could say would definitely happen.

PVHS and UCH announced in June their intent to collaborate under a joint operating agreement.  Since then, officials at both systems have been working to finalize the details of the agreement.

Once Memorial sends out its RFP, bidders will have until Oct. 24 to formally indicate their interest, and final proposals will be due Nov. 11.  The Memorial task force will then narrow the list to two finalists and pick a selectee by the end of the year.  Colorado Springs voters must approve the winning bidder sometime in 2012.
