Saturday event to mark Poudre trail completion
TIMNATH — Agency partners in Northern Colorado are inviting the community to a Saturday event to celebrate the final connection of the 45-mile Poudre River Trail.
The event, “Connecting Communities: The Poudre River Trail Celebration,” will highlight the completed 45 miles of continuous, paved, multi-use trail from Bellvue, west of Fort Collins, to
Greeley.
The free event will recognize more than 50 years of vision, collaboration and investment among local governments, agencies, funders and community partners who worked together to create this fully connected regional trail corridor along the Poudre River.
The public event, hosted at Timnath Community Park, will begin at 9 a.m. with official remarks and a ceremony. In place of a traditional ribbon-cutting, partner organizations and local dignitaries will symbolically connect ribbon pieces, representing the many communities and collaborators who contributed to the trail. This will be followed by a community celebration from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring partner booths, family-friendly activities and food trucks.
Signage is being placed at Lions Open Space, 2425 N. Overland Trail in Laporte, and Island Grove, 501 N. 14th Ave. in Greeley, marking the near-end points of the trail route. Celebratory markers along the trail will also help recognize the new continuous connection and invite the public to experience it as a shared regional resource.
This regional event is a collaboration between Larimer County, the City of Fort Collins, the Town
of Windsor, the Town of Timnath and the City of Greeley, made possible through the support of event sponsors including Great Outdoors Colorado, the Colorado Lottery and the Friends of Larimer County.
