Slice House to open Saturday in Loveland

LOVELAND — Originally scheduled to make its Colorado debut in September, California-based pizzeria chain Slice House by Tony Gemignani now plans to open Saturday in Loveland.

The 2,200-square-foot space at 1385 Sculptor Drive in Van de Water Plaza had been home to a Domino’s Pizza location, which moved just to the west along Eisenhower Boulevard — the tourist-heavy route of U.S. Highway 34 — at 1385 N. Denver Ave.

Opening-day events, beginning at 11 a.m., will feature a Slice House hat giveaway for the first 50 guests, a raffle for the chance to win free pizza for one year, and an appearance by Gemignani, the chain’s namesake founder, an award-winning pizza chef and author of several books on pizzacraft.

“We are thrilled to open our doors to the community of Loveland, marking Slice House’s debut in Colorado,” Gemignani said in a prepared statement. “It’s an honor to bring our first location in the Mountain West to this vibrant city, and we’re excited to celebrate opening day and introduce our signature craft pizza concept to local guests and visitors. A special thanks to our seasoned brand partners, Michael Tingus and Dean Crescenzi, for bringing Slice House to life just in time for the busy fall and winter season.”

Tingus, a new Loveland resident, and Crescenzi, his California-based partner, formed Tingus Restaurant Group and obtained the Colorado franchise rights to Slice House. They plan to open 20 locations along the Front Range, and hope that their second store will open in the first quarter of next year just off Colorado Highway 119 near Costco in Suite A at 725 Harvest Moon Drive in Longmont, the same building that houses a new Dave’s Hot Chicken franchise and near where California-based hamburger chain In-N-Out is building its first Boulder County location.

The new pizza spot in Loveland, to be open from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, will offer takeout, online ordering and delivery. It will have indoor seating for 22 people and outdoor seating for 50 on a 1,400-square-foot private patio.
