Public hearing today on Kanemoto Estates conservation easement

BOULDER – The Boulder County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing Thursday to hear a developer’s request to terminate a conservation easement on a large parcel near Airport Road and Colorado Highway 119 just southwest of Longmont’s city limits where a developer wants to build a mixed housing development.

Despite hearing impassioned pleas from more than a dozen area residents, the Boulder County Planning Commission voted unanimously in March to vacate the easement as part of Bestall Collaborative founder Jack Bestall’s plan to get the 40-acre parcel annexed into Longmont and win approval for the proposed Somerset Village subdivision, which could include around 426 housing units.

The hearing will be held beginning at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Commissioners’ Hearing Room on the third floor of the Boulder County Courthouse, 1325 Pearl St. in Boulder, or through Zoom. Registration is required for both.
