Special Olympics Colorado to host annual Flag Football State Tournament
FORT COLLINS — Special Olympics Colorado, in partnership with Canvas Credit Union and Canvas Foundation, will conduct the 2022 Special Olympics Colorado State Flag Football Tournament Saturday, Oct. 29.
The tournament will feature about 40 flag football teams, with approximately 600 total athletes from across the state competing.
“This tournament is one of our largest and most anticipated every year. The dedication, teamwork and spirit our athletes display is nothing short of remarkable, and every detail of this event has been crafted in honor of them,” Megan Scremin, president and CEO of Special Olympics Colorado, said in a written statement. “With Canvas standing shoulder-to-shoulder with our organization in support of these 600 incredible athletes, we’re eager to bring the community together. This event truly speaks to what can be achieved when you have a partner with heart, compassion, and commitment.”

The tournament will take place on the Colorado State University Intramural Fields, where free parking is available. Special Olympics Colorado is taking volunteer applications to assist coordination of the event from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Canvas Foundation raised about $58,000 through its annual golf tournament in June, and Canvas Credit Union invested an additional $17,000 to help support Special Olympics Colorado’s programming and athletes.
