Fort Collins tree company sells to Bartlett

FORT COLLINS — F.A. Bartlett Tree Expert Co., a Stamford, Connecticut, company, has acquired Fort Collins-based Tree Top Inc. The acquisition is Bartlett’s 157th and third in Colorado.

James and Anna Knotts, sellers of Tree Top, will join Bartlett. In a press statement, the pair said they are “excited to integrate new tools and protocols to help them take even better care of customers’ trees.” 

“Bartlett invests tremendously in arboricultural research to support its local offices in providing the most advanced tree care solutions available,” James Knotts said in a written statement. “We are proud to join Bartlett and honored to be part of a team as dedicated to scientific tree care as they are.”

Bartlett president Jim Ingram said the purchase will enable the company to expand in Colorado. “We are excited about this acquisition because it allows us to expand our full range of scientific tree care services in Colorado while continuing to honor our commitment to exceptional safety, quality, and customer service.”

The acquisition closed on May 23; terms were not disclosed. The purchase follows the acquisition this year of 303 Tree in Boulder. 

Bartlett was founded in 1907. It maintains a research lab in Charlotte, North Carolina, where it studies shade trees, soil science, entomology and horticulture.
