Boulder iQ selects first firm for medical-device accelerator

BOULDER — Boulder iQ, a medical and industrial device consulting and contract manufacturing firm, has selected CardioScout Innovations Inc. as the first firm to participate in the company’s 2021 Boulder Medical Device Accelerator.

The accelerator, launched in 2019, provides investment funding and support for medical-device startups. 

CardioScout is developing a device to provide surgeons access to patients’ pericardial space and epicardium, according to a Boulder iQ news release.

“The CardioScout device performs like a lunar rover that drives you across the surface of the beating heart,” CardioScout CEO Dr. James Fonger said in the release. “Today, epicardial procedures are the new frontier in many cardiac applications. The CardioScout device is the answer to replace tools used today that are not always specifically designed for epicardial applications.”

As a member of the accelerator, CardioScout will receive an equity investment of $10,000 to use on product development services with Boulder iQ, as well as office and laboratory space within Boulder iQ’s 11,000-square-foot facility, according to the release. 

Boulder iQ is a trade name registered to Boulder BioMed LLC.
