Discount cigarette makers sue to overturn part of tobacco tax ballot initiative
DENVER — Three makers of discount cigarettes are suing to overturn a minimum-price clause in Proposition EE that was passed by Colorado voters in November.
The manufacturers argue that the clause making it illegal to sell a pack of cigarettes for less than $7 is an unfair advantage to larger cigarette makers that heavily lobbied the ballot proposition’s language, the Colorado Sun reports.
