Tire recyclers plan second site near Hudson

WELD COUNTY — A Denver-based tire recycling company is planning to build a second plant in Weld County.

Tires To Green Recycling LLC plans to build a 26,000-square-foot tire shredding facility near the intersection of Weld County Road 28 and Weld County Road 41, according to pre-application documents submitted to Weld County planning officials. Tires To Green estimates it’ll have 12 employees at the plant at opening time and could increase that figure to 26 once the project is at full buildout.

The company already operates a 25,676-square-foot plant just south of its proposed construction site, about 3 miles southwest of Hudson.

Tires To Green Recycling did not return a request for comment Monday morning.

Tire recyclers could see a spike in production as a result of a Colorado law passed in 2014 that banned adding waste tires into existing tire fills by 2018. The same law orders those fills to close by July 2024.
