Canarchy raises $18M, adds Calif. brewery to portfolio

LONGMONT — Canarchy Craft Brewery Collective, the Longmont-based owner of Oskar Blues Brewery, has added a craft brewery to its portfolio, its second addition in a month.

The collective, funded in part by Massachusetts-based Fireman Capital Partners, has picked up Three Weavers Brewing Co. in Inglewood, Calif.  In June, the collective added Dallas-based Deep Ellum Brewing Co.

Three Weavers is one of the largest independent craft breweries in Los Angeles County, led by co-founder Lynne Weaver, and co-founder and brewmaster Alexandra Nowell.

Canarchy touts itself as providing “a platform from which rapidly growing craft breweries seeking high level resources can expand and compete in the increasingly competitive craft beer segment, while maintaining independence.” It was formed in 2015.

Canarchy’s portfolio includes Deep Ellum Brewing Co., Oskar Blues Brewery, with operations in Longmont, Austin and Brevard, N.C.; Perrin Brewing Co. in Grand Rapids, Mich.; Cigar City Brewing in Tampa Fla.; and Squatters Craft Beer and Wasatch Brewery in Salt Lake City.

Securities and Exchange Commission documents show that Oskar Blues Holding Co. LLC raised $18.2 million in equity from 41 investors, stating the raise was “in connection with a merger that took place July 16, 2018.” The holding company recently changed its name to Canarchy.

Officials at Canarchy did not respond to requests for comments.
