Petition effort to force vote on downtown Greeley hotel falls flat
Greeley citizens upset that the city will loan $8.6 million to developers for a new downtown hotel will have to find a new tactic if they’re to continue fighting the project.
The Greeley Tribune reports that the group Stop Taxes on Private Projects gathered only 88 signatures of the 1,602 needed by Thursday’s deadline. While the group most took issue with the loan to developers, STOPP was trying to force a vote on a city ordinance authorizing a 60-year lease for the property at 919 7th St., where the hotel will be built.
