Spectrum Medical Imaging opens in Brighton

BRIGHTON — Spectrum Medical Imaging has opened a 6,500-square-foot facility on the Platte Valley Medical Center campus, bringing Brighton its first open-MRI machine.

The provider of outpatient diagnostic medical services opened March 14 at 1610 Prairie Center Parkway, Suite 2100, in the new Medical Plaza Two medical office building adjacent to PVMC. Built out by G.H. Phipps Construction Co., Spectrum has an entrance separate from that of the main hospital and offers a full range of diagnostic radiology services including a Hitachi Oasis MRI, which provides high‐field imaging with an open design especially helpful for patients with claustrophobia and obesity issues.

Coleen Castle, clinical manager for the new facility, said Spectrum also will offer breast imaging and mammography using the latest 3D technology, as well as ultrasound, x-ray and bone densitometry — known as “dexa” — screening for osteoporosis. CT scans and diagnostic mammograms will be performed in the radiology department at PVMC.

“Brighton is a very close-knit community,” said Castle, who had worked for 18 years at Hospital Corp. of America in Ocala, Fla., before moving to Brighton. “There’s no reason the residents of our community should travel outside of our community for quality and affordable health care. With the opening of Spectrum Medical Imaging, patients can experience a more convenient option and referring physicians can experience a higher level of service, with the latest in medical technology and all at a lower cost.”

Spectrum employs eight people, she said, including ultrasound, mammography, x-ray and MRI technicians.
