Weld County planners recommend rejection of asphalt plant proposal
Weld County planning staff have released a report recommending that commissioners reject a proposal by Martin Marietta to build a $20 million asphalt and concrete plant near a rural residential development.
The Coloradoan reports that the staff stated that the project “would not be compatible” with neighboring properties nor would it mesh with longer-term plans for the area by surrounding communities.
Martin Marietta earlier this year announced plans to develop a 133-acre site at 27486 Weld County Road 13, just south of Highway 34 near the Indianhead Estates neighborhood, causing backlash from residents there.
