VetDC wins big at BioWest

VetDC, a CSU spinoff, has won first prize in the Colorado Bioscience Association’s BioWest Venture Showcase.

The company works with pet owners and veterinarians at the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital and Animal Cancer Center to develop promising new veterinary therapies adopted from medicines that originally were developed for humans.

VetDC competed against four companies in Denver on Tuesday that pitched their echnologies and business plans to a panel of bioscience experts and venture capitalists in the BioWest Venture Showcase. Also competing Tuesday was KromaTID, another spinoff from CSU.

VetDC took home the first prize and $7,500 in cash from the competition.

VetDC focuses mostly on cancer, which is considered to be the leading cause of death in adult pets today.
