Superior looks at development plan

SUPERIOR – The town of Superior could undergo a dramatic makeover if plans for a $350 million, 185-acre sports-themed mixed-use development come to fruition.

The Explor Group, a Boulder-based company that develops mixed-use developments anchored by sports and entertainment complexes, is proposing building a new town center that would include 250,000 square feet of retail space oriented around a pedestrian mall, up to 2,000 residential units, a theater, an upscale hotel and a major sports training facility that includes soccer fields, tennis courts, a velodrome and a stadium for track and field.
