FreeWave launches waterproof radios

BOULDER – FreeWave Technologies is touting its new, remote monitoring radio as the first of its kind in the market.

The Boulder-based company will sell the waterproof submersible radio at a base price of $1,495, said Christin Jeffers, a company spokeswoman. The radio’s design protects it against corrosive materials, making it useful for companies in the oil and gas industries and the water/wastewater industries, among others, Jeffers said. It is battery powered, with an estimated battery life of four and a half years, the company said.

“The battery-powered solution was created based on customer demand,” Craig Held, general manager of international business, said in a statement. “We needed to provide a solution that can keep a low profile and is water-proof, submersible and targeted toward installations with access issues. Our battery-powered solution meets these needs.”
