Guaranty Bancorp reports net loss in third quarter

DENVER – Guaranty Bancorp (Nasdaq: GBNK) reported a net loss of $16.9 million for the third quarter of 2009, or a 33-cent loss per basic and diluted share.

That compares to a $265.8 million loss, or $5.21 loss per basic and diluted share, for the same quarter in 2008. However, that 2008 loss included a $250.7 million goodwill impairment charge. Excluding that charge, Guaranty’s loss for the third quarter was $1.8 million more than the same quarter in 2008.

Guaranty Bancorp is a holding company that operates 34 branches in Colorado through Guaranty Bank and Trust Co., including several in Northern Colorado.
