BOULDER — Avery Brewing Co. has developed a new hard seltzer product line called Sparkle, which will be available for purchase throughout the brewery’s distribution network in February.

Sparkle will be five percent alcohol by volume, 100 calories, and 1.5 carbs and will come in the following flavors: cherry lime, grapefruit, and CranRaz, according to an Avery news release.

“Along with everyone else in America, Avery’s brewers have been enjoying their share of hard seltzers between beers,” the release said. “True to its Beer First commitment, Avery’s team wanted to create a hard seltzer of its own, with the consistency and quality it embraces every day.”

With the release of Sparkle, Avery joins a growing list of local brew houses to enter the seltzer business.

Other Boulder Valley and Northern Colorado hard seltzer offerings include Boulder-based Upslope Brewing’s Spiked Snowmelt, Longmont-based Oskar Blues’ Wild Basin and Colorado Spiked Seltzer from Windsor-based High Hops’ Heart Distillery. Other area brewers, including Verboten in Loveland, Odell in Fort Collins and Soul Squared in Wellington, have their own creations on tap and are likely to jump into the retail market. Westminster Brewing Co. reopened its taproom doors last year and offered a hard seltzer in prickly pear flavor.
