Lockheed Martin expands local footprint with lease in Longmont

LONGMONT — Bethesda, Maryland-based aerospace and defense contractor Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT), which has long had a presence in Boulder, has expanded its Boulder County footprint with the recent lease of office space within the Xilinx Inc. campus in Longmont.

Lockheed has taken on roughly 37,000 square feet at the southwest Longmont office, according to information from real estate brokerage Newmark Knight Frank.

Lockheed Martin recently leased office space at 1951 S. Fordham Road in Longmont, and that location will help extend the critical space operations that take place at our Boulder office at 6304 Spine Road,” Lockheed spokesman Gary Napier told BizWest in an email.

Lockheed Martin leases the entire 171,000-square-foot Spine Road building, where the company employs roughly 450 people who support its Space Systems business.

Maia Boulder LLC bought that property for $18.45 million in 2016 from Dallas investment group Macfarlan Capital Partners.

It is unclear whether the availability of a large space within Xilinx’s Longmont office complex means the programmable integrated circuits and software company is shrinking operations there. Xilinx representatives could not be reached for comment.

The 1951 S. Fordham Road offices, which total nearly 200,000 square feet and also house data storage drive manufacturer Western Digital Inc., are adjacent to Xilinx’s main building at 3100 Logic Drive.
