Foundry Group participates in funding mapping service
BOULDER — Location services company Mapbox Inc. has raised $164 million funding from SoftBank Group’s $100 billion “Vision Fund,” Boulder-based Foundry Group and other investors, according to a Washington Business Journal report reprinted in the Denver Business Journal..
Mapbox, based in Washington, D.C., creates direction, location and mapping technology for companies that include Lyft, IBM and Snapchat, according to the report. The company previously raised $63 million, bringing its total above $220 million.
Mapbox has 900,000 registered developers. It will use the funding to build car technologies including developments for self-driving vehicles and virtual reality tech.
