CDOT names new leader over business ventures

The senior deputy legal counsel to Gov. John Hickenlooper’s administration was named Thursday as the head of the business arm of the Colorado Department of Transportation.

The Denver Post reports that David Spector will be the director of the High Performance Transportation Enterprise, which is a government-owned independent business within CDOT. Known as the HPTE, the entity oversees transportation options for Colorado roads including the tolling of portions of Interstate 25 north of Denver and U.S. 36 between Denver and Boulder.

Spector will succeed Michael Cheroutes, who served in the role as the first head of the HPTE from its inception in 2010. Spector will officially join HPTE in mid-October.
