HeidiTown’s top vocation is vacation

At age 38, Heidi Kerr-Schlaefer of Loveland just might have the best job in Colorado.

In only eight years, she has blossomed from a writer for the Berthoud Weekly Surveyor and an obscure blogger reviewing movies, books and restaurants to become a one-woman tourism-promotion machine – and self-proclaimed mayor of “HeidiTown.”

She’s on the road at least three weekends a month to review festivals and unique experiences around Colorado, and has developed such a statewide reputation that most of her lodging and meals now are complimentary.

With BizWest since 2012 and in Colorado since 1979, Dallas worked at the Longmont Times-Call, Colorado Springs Gazette, Denver Post and Public News Service. A Missouri native and Mizzou School of Journalism grad, Dallas started as a sports writer and outdoor columnist at the St. Charles (Mo.)
