The Eye: Apple fan takes bite out of NT

Consider it the apple of our Eye.

The Eye spotted an interesting item on the Apple Computer Web site featuring none other than Fort Collins’ own Kai Staats and his Terra Firma Design.

The Apple Design and Publishing Web site was impressed with Staats’ use of Macintosh computers to serve commercial Web sites. A two-age feature on Terra Firma — actually a first-person account written by Staats — was placed on the Apple Design and Publishing site at www.apple.com/publishing.

The first large-scale project to be subjected to City Plan guidelines likely will begin its journey through the planning and zoning commission later this month.

Rigdon Farm is a 310-acre project at Timberline and Drake spearheaded by long-time Fort Collins developer Bill Neal. In addition to a mix of housing, the Rigdon Farm application includes an 80-acre commercial center.

Neal said he’s ready for the role of guinea pig as City Plan is applied to his project.

The Eye spotted a local company recognized in a recent issue of Hispanic Business magazine. In an issue highlighting the 1998 Hispanic Business Fastest-Growing 100 companies nationwide, TSN Inc., which recently relocated to the Del Camino area of Weld County from Boulder, was ranked as the 18th-fastest-growing Hispanic-owned business in the United States.

TSN, which supplies convenience stores, recorded a 1,372.87 percent increase in revenues from 1993 to 1997.
