Intrepid completes acquisition of Southern California network

BROOMFIELD — Intrepid Fiber Networks has completed its acquisition of the Southern California fiber network of Ubiquity after regulatory approvals earlier this month.

The acquisition, first announced in June, provides the Broomfield-based fiber-infrastructure company with “an established, in-service, fiber-to-the-premises network, comprising over 35,000 fiber passings across Solana Beach, Encinitas, Carlsbad and Oceanside to Intrepid’s footprint,” according to a press release.

Intrepid has been building its own fiber network in San Diego County in Vista and San Marcos, and the newly acquired network increases the company’s San Diego County reach to more than 100,000 homes and businesses. Intrepid also is building networks in Corona and Riverside. 

Operations and employees of Ubiquity’s Southern California network have transitioned to Intrepid. Integration and additional network construction are underway, with Intrepid focused on scaling service to thousands more locations across the footprint.
