JBS strike to enter third week

GREELEY — Thousands of meatpacking workers at the JBS USA plant in Greeley say they plan to extend their strike into a third week, charging the company with unfair labor practices.

According to the Denver Post, the union representing 3,800 workers in United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7 says the company is only offering raises of less than 2% a year, while garnishing workers’ wages for personal protective equipment, and that it hasn’t addressed workers’ issues.

JBS officials say the plant has maintained stable operations during the strike and continue to question why Local 7 won’t accept an offer that thousands of workers from its parent union at other facilities have already ratified.
