Waldau returns to Boulder Chamber as AVP, director of Economic Council

BOULDER — Corine Waldau, who worked at the Boulder Chamber for more than eight years before departing in 2022, is rejoining the organization as associate vice president for economic-impact programs and executive director of the chamber’s Economic Council.

She succeeds Joe Hovancak, who resigned in September to become vice president of Caruso Ventures, a Boulder-based venture-capital firm that invests in technology companies and is helmed by Zaya Group founder and former CEO Dan Caruso.

Waldau had been the chamber’s senior director of economic vitality since 2014 before spending three years at FNBO in Boulder as senior advisor for community banking. She had led the chamber’s economic-vitality work through a pivotal period for Boulder’s business community, including her role as a leader in the COVID-19 pandemic response and recovery efforts.

In her new roles, Waldau will lead the chamber’s economic impact programming, including the Boulder Together program, working collaboratively with business and governmental stakeholders to shape the regional economic environment. She also will partner with the Economic Council investors to tackle challenges and seize new opportunities for the full spectrum of Boulder’s keystone industries.

Waldau has been recognized for community leadership, including honors for her pandemic-era work, such as the Downtown Boulder Partnership’s George Karakehian Community Service Award and the Longmont Chamber’s Jubilee Award. 

Before coming to the Boulder Chamber, Waldau was alliance manager for the Public Health Alliance of Colorado, and also had worked for the American Water Works Association, Metro Denver Dental Association and the Aurora Economic Development Council. She holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Colorado Denver and a bachelor’s in economics and political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
