Shake Shack among new eateries coming to Broomfield’s HiFi

BROOMFIELD — Burger joint Shake Shack, along with Memoir An American Grill and Blue Sushi Sake Grill, have recently inked leases at HiFi, the mixed-use project that is transforming a portion of the roughly 25-year-old Flatiron Crossing retail plaza in Broomfield.

Shake Shack — a fast casual concept with a menu focused on hamburgers, fries and, of course, shakes — launched in New York in 2003 and has rapidly expanded to more than 100 locations around the country, including in Boulder and Fort Collins.

Memoir — which Flatirons Crossing owner Macerich Co. says “blends grilled classics, modern comfort food and thoughtful design into an approachable yet elevated dining experience” — and Blue Sushi — which will “offer a lively, social space where guests can enjoy a mix of creative sushi, craft cocktails and shareable plates in a colorful, modern setting” — are operated by the Omaha, Nebraska-based Flagship Restaurant Group.

“FlatIron Crossing’s new HiFi district perfectly aligns with Blue Sushi’s energy — dynamic, youthful, and experience-driven,” Flagship co-owner Anthony Hitchcock said in a prepared statement. “We’re excited to bring our signature sushi and spirited hospitality to the Broomfield community.”

HiFi is a 24-acre district that will eventually include an outdoor community hub, apartments, eateries, entertainment venues and shops. The enclosed Flatiron Crossing mall itself will remain intact. So would some businesses in The Village, including the AMC Theater, Red Robin and P.F. Chang’s.

Novel Flatiron, a five-story, 345-unit apartment community developed by Crescent Communities LLC, is also expected to open in 2027.

The area being redeveloped is known as The Village and includes large, under-utilized parking lots south of  U.S. Highway 36 and west of Interlocken Loop.

For the entirety of the redevelopment effort, Macerich’s “total capital investment is expected to exceed $400 million,” according to Broomfield planning documents from 2022, when the redevelopment effort began.
