Vasa Fitness opening in ex-King Soopers space in Lafayette
LAFAYETTE — Vasa Fitness LLC, an Englewood-based chain of gyms, has leased the former King Soopers space in Lafayette at Baseline Road and U.S. Highway 287.
The grocery store closed last year when a new King Soopers location opened nearby in Erie’s Nine Mile Corner shopping center, but the Kroger Co.-owned (NYSE: KR) chain still owns the Lafayette building.
Rumors have circulated for weeks on social media that Vasa would be taking over the space, but a company spokesperson declined to comment to BizWest when asked in late December about the Lafayette location.
The City of Lafayette’s communications director Debbie Wilmot confirmed to BizWest on Friday that Vasa plans to move into the former grocery-store space. A Vasa representative told BizWest in an email that the gym operator does “have a signed lease agreement but we can’t share any additional details yet, it’s too early.”
Vasa has a number of Colorado locations along the Front Range, including Boulder Valley and Northern Colorado gyms in Westminster and Greeley.
