New homeless-shelter code gets final Loveland OK

LOVELAND — An amendment to Loveland’s development code that sets standards for facilities serving homeless people passed 8-1 on second and final reading late Tuesday.

According to the Loveland Reporter-Herald, the dissenting vote came from Dana Foley, who suggested it be tied “to a bigger solution, like a continuum of care campus, which also requires a lot more space, which also potentially requires that right now to be outside of the city limits.”

City planner Kerri Burchett emphasized that the code revision didn’t involve the proposed shelter at First Christian Church, although many members of the public railed against that project.
