Lochbuie hires former Dacono city manager

LOCHBUIE — The town of Lochbuie has named A.J. Euckert, formerly city manager in Dacono, as its town administrator effective Wednesday this week.

Euckert will oversee a range of projects in the community that include infrastructure, town services and quality of life issues. “His vision for inclusive development and collaborative governance will invigorate our town’s growth and foster a stronger sense of unity among all community members,” the town said in a press statement noting the appointment.

“I am deeply honored and excited to assume the role of town administrator for the wonderful community of Lochbuie. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the mayor and board of trustees, the senior leadership team, and all those involved in the appointment process for entrusting me with this responsibility. I am eager to collaborate with our dedicated staff and work alongside our community members, businesses, and developers to make Lochbuie an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.”

Euckert was unceremoniously fired from his position in Dacono in February at the conclusion of a regular meeting that began with the presentation of a framed certificate recognizing his 20 years of services as a city manager.

“We appreciate your dedication to the city of Dacono,” Mayor Adam Morehead told him.

In a surprise to Morehead and at least two members of the seven-member council, four other members moved to terminate, seconded and forced a vote without discussion within a matter of seconds. No reasons were given, and, based upon public commentary at successive meetings, the four were tight-lipped after the decision.

Community members rallied to recall two of the four — the other two were either restricted from recall because of a recent election or were not recalled because of the upcoming November re-election date.

Morehead sought an investigation by the Dacono police chief, who deferred to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, which disclosed multiple likely violations.

In August, the newly formed council voted to censure the remaining two members of the council who allegedly had met illegally prior to the February termination of Euckert.
