Funding Friday: Brickell prepares to sell $50M in new stock, more SPACs launch

Notable rounds this week:

  • Brickell Biotech Inc. (Nasdaq: BBI) said it would sell up to $50 million in new stock in an on-demand at-market-price offering. The funds are meant to bolster the company’s balance sheet as it completes two Phase III trials for its flagship anti-underarm sweating treatment in the U.S. Early data from those studies are expected at the end of the year.
  • The Los Angeles-based Gores Group began trading of two new special-purpose acquisition companies out of its Boulder office Friday, seeking to raise a combined $640 million.
