SendGrid sale closes at almost $3B value

DENVER — SendGrid Inc., the Boulder-born email-delivery service, has completed its sale to Twilio Inc., and the deal is worth $1 billion more than originally conceived.

The Denver Business Journal reports that the sale, which became final Friday morning, shot up in value along with the stock of both companies since the deal was first announced in October. SendGrid (NYSE: SEND) saw its stock soar from $30.93 to $54.08, and Twilio (NYSE: TWLO) saw its stock climb from $76.13 to $111.32, according to the DBJ.

Twilio is based in San Francisco. SendGrid is expected to expand its presence in Denver as a result of the sale.

SendGrid was one of Boulder’s greatest startup success stories but moved its headquarters to Denver in 2016.
