Banner Health names Karsten Western Division president
GREELEY — Margo Karsten, chief executive officer for three Banner Health hospitals in Northern Colorado, will take on the role of Western Division president, Jan. 1, replacing Jim Ferando who plans to retire in late January.
Karsten will continue to serve as CEO for North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, McKee Medical Center in Loveland and Banner Fort Collins Medical Center in Fort Collins.
She joined Phoenix-based Banner one year ago after serving as chief executive for Cheyenne Regional Medical Center and Creative Healthcare Management consultants in Minneapolis. She also held leadership roles at Poudre Valley Hospital.

Karsten will be supported by Hoyt Skabelund, Western Division CEO overseeing Banner’s rural hospitals in addition to serving as the chief executive officer at Sterling Regional MedCenter in Sterling.
Ferando has been with Banner for 10 years outside of the metro-Phoenix and Tucson areas. During his tenure, his responsibility covered communities in seven states from Northern Arizona to Alaska.
