Boulder council increases affordable housing linkage fee
The cost of developing commercial property in Boulder got more expensive Tuesday night, but not by as much as some City Council members had hoped.
The Camera reports that council raised the affordable housing linkage fee charged to developers from $9.53 per square foot to $12 per square foot. At least two council members, though, had lobbied to raise the fee as high as $30 or $35 per square foot.
Boulder’s affordable housing linkage fees go toward building new permanently affordable housing as well as preserving existing stock in the community.
