Foreclosure numbers mixed for third quarter

DENVER – A report released Thursday by the state Division of Housing shows foreclosure filings in both Larimer and Weld counties down during the third quarter of 2008, but attributes the decrease over last year to changes in state law.

HB 1402, passed earlier this year by the Colorado legislature, significantly changed the procedures for foreclosure notification. As a result, sales of new foreclosures filed during 2008 were not permitted during March and April and the number of new filings reported in August were artificially depressed to very low levels.
