GHX picks Louisville for HQ; will bring 200 jobs to city

LOUISVILLE – Westminster-based Global Healthcare Exchange LLC is bringing its health-care e-commerce company and more than 200 jobs to Louisville.

The company signed a lease for 80,000 square feet at 1315 W. Century Drive, more than double the space of its former headquarters at 11000 Westmoor Circle in Westminster.

GHX provides services and products to the health-care industry to help hospitals match with medical suppliers and reduce costs. The company also builds technology that automates and improves the quality of the purchasing process.

From 2005 to 2006, GHX doubled its number of full-time employees to about 530 worldwide, said Executive Marketing Director Cheryl Flury. About 200 of those will work at the new headquarters in Louisville, and GHX plans to add another 45 positions locally this year.

The company plans to make the move from Westminster to Louisville in August.

“We wanted a standalone building where we could be the primary tenant and create a campus feel for the company,” Flury said. “The extra space gives us a wider range for growth opportunities.” GHX plans to include a gym and learning center for employees.

Louisville City Council helped the deal by extending several tax and fee rebates up to $60,100.

The new building for GHX was formerly occupied by General Electric’s Ohmeda subsidiary, before it vacated the space in May 2005. Danny Lindau with The Colorado Group helped broker the deal.

Several Boulder investors under the entity of Sentinel Properties LLC purchased the 106,877-square-foot building for $8,325,000 earlier this year. Lindau also helped broker that deal.

He said there is still 26,000 square feet of vacant research and development space for lease, which could also be converted into office space.
