Bi-State merges with Colorado Machinery

GREELEY – Bi-State Machinery Co. Inc., the Greeley-based dealer of John Deere farm equipment, has merged with fellow John Deere affiliate Colorado Machinery LLC, the parties announced Monday.
The deal is one of two transactions that double the size of Colorado Machinery. In addition to Bi-State, which also has a location in Fort Collins, Colorado Machinery absorbed Romer Mercantile, a John Deere dealer with stores in Holly and Lamar. This bring the number of Colorado Machinery locations to nine, up from five.
With its headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colorado Machinery traditionally focused on sales and service of Johns Deere’s construction equipment and forestry equipment. The company also sells so-called “compact equipment,” such as Bobcat loaders.
As a result of the merger, four of the company’s nine stores will operate as Colorado Machinery. The four newly acquired stores will operate under a new name, Colorado Equipment. Bobcat of Colorado Springs will continue to operate under that name.
Former Bi-State owner Duane Wallin will continue to run the Colorado Equipment stores in Greeley and Fort Collins as a managing partner.
Colorado Machinery is not new to Northern Colorado. The company already had an outlet in Fort Collins, where it also sold and serviced Bobcat products, and opened a Frederick location in 2003.
The combined companies now have 220 employees at nine locations. Bi-State, which brings 59 employees into the merger, registered $32 million in sales last year.
