Erie planning commission recommends approval of proposed fracking rules

The town of Erie’s planning commission gave its nod of approval on Wednesday to new rules for oil and gas drilling, recommending that the board of trustees pass proposed guidelines.

The Times-Call reports that the commission’s stance came amid stiff opposition from oil and gas industry officials, including Anadarko Petroleum Corp., and the Colorado Oil and Gas Association.

The board of trustees is slated to consider the new rules on Tuesday.
