Apartment rent increase in metro Denver first in six months

DENVER – Apartment rents in metro Denver increased in January, snapping a five-month streak of month-over-month declines, according to a report from Axiometrics, a Dallas-based multifamily housing research firm.

The Denver Post reports that the increase, $6 a month, brings the average effective rent, which includes discounts, to $1,365 a month in metro Denver. Rents rose at a  2.7-percent annual pace in January, an increase from December’s 2.3-percent pace. Nationally, apartment rents rose  2.2 percent last month.

The apartment occupancy rate in metro Denver remained unchanged at 94 percent, the same level seen in December, but down from the 94.3 percent of January 2016, according to Axiometrics.
