BOULDER — Foothills United Way, which serves Boulder and Broomfield counties, will hold its 22nd annual Day of Caring volunteer event Sept. 9. More than 30 businesses and community groups are signed up to participate in this year’s event, working on more than 60 projects across the two counties such as landscaping, painting, harvesting and building. The day will include working on volunteer projects from 8 a.m. to noon, followed by a picnic for volunteers at Gateway Park, 4800 N. 28th St., in Boulder. Volunteers for last year’s Day of Caring contributed 3,780 hours of their time, with an economic value of $94,870.
Elevations Credit Union donated 920 pairs of glasses and $1,000 to the Louisville chapter of Lions Clubs International, the world’s largest service club organization. Used eyeglasses, reading glasses, sunglasses and funds were collected at each of Elevations’ 11 branches along the Front Range during May. Every pair of glasses received was matched with a cash donation from Elevations to the Lions Club. The glasses will be distributed throughout the world to needy individuals.
