Startups in region to make pitches at Angel Capital Summit

DENVER — Four Boulder County startups, plus one each from the University of Colorado Boulder and Colorado State University, will be among 22 to pitch at the Rockies Venture Club’s annual Angel Capital Summit.

Officials for the summit, which takes place March 14 and 15 at the University of Denver’s Sturm Hall, unveiled the list of startups to pitch on Monday.

The 22 companies will each get five minutes to pitch in front of about 300 investors and entrepreneurs. The event will include a keynote address by Seth Levine of Boulder-based venture capital firm Foundry Group.

A spokesman for Rockies Venture Club said Monday that about 80 startups applied to pitch at the summit, with RVC members weighing in on which ones they wanted to see pitch. Among the 22, 12 are active companies based in Colorado, in addition to seven college-based startups participating as part of the University Startup Challenge. The other three are out-of-state startups are portfolio companies of angel-investment groups attending the summit.

The Boulder County companies participating include:

Neat Capital, Boulder: An online marketplace mortgage lender that aims to connect investors directly to borrowers.

Purewater Therapeutics, Longmont: Developing a water purification technology and products for dialysis that reduce costs of the treatment and increase margin for providers.

SQFT, Boulder: A mobile app that allows home sellers to create listings, schedule showings and receive offers through their smartphones.

SwimLane, Boulder: An automated security software platform that enables organizations to automatically respond to cyber attacks and automate specific tasks.

The two area university-based startups participating include:

IgnoreU, CSU: A third-party Twitter application that allows users to filter tweets based on content.

Surya Conversions, CU: Builds hybrid conversion kits for auto rickshaws in developing countries to help reduce emissions and save drivers money on fuel.
