Safe Systems buys 2 security companies

LOUISVILLE – Burglar- and fire-alarm company Safe Systems Inc. continues to grow after recently purchasing two security companies in the Denver-metro-area, the company president said.

Sale terms were not disclosed between Louisville-based Safe Systems and the companies it bought – Colorado Telemetry Systems Inc. in Golden and Sunair Security Services Inc. in Aurora. Operations from those companies were rolled into the Safe Systems headquarters in Louisville, including monitoring and billing, said Larry Halpern, company president. Four employees from Colorado Telemetry Systems were brought to work at Safe Systems, he said.

Safe Systems now has about $420,000 in monthly recurring revenue, up from $350,000 in monthly recurring revenue at the end of 2011, Halpern said. In addition to handling monthly security for commercial and residential customers of burglar- and fire-alarm systems, Safe Systems workers also sell new alarm-system products, he said.

Empowering communities

Rocky Mountain Health Plans (RMHP), part of the UnitedHealthcare family, has pledged its commitment to uplift these communities through substantial investments in organizations addressing the distinct needs of our communities.

Halpern attributes company growth not only to the new acquisitions, but also to hiring an experienced executive team about five years ago and focusing on new technology.

For example, Safe Systems offers a video system to customers in which a video camera will be activated and start transmitting data to the Safe Systems office when an alarm is triggered, Halpern said.

“We have seen several arrests from that,” Halpern said. “You see the bad guy in the building, and the next video is the police officer bringing the guy out.”

Other products include controls that a customer can monitor from a smart phone device, such as a building thermostat or arming and disarming an alarm from another location, Halpern said.

Safe Systems employs 65 people, up from 57 at the end of 2011. The company also opened a new office in Colorado Springs in the past year, Halpern said.
